Digitization Basics for Illinois Archivists Illinois State Archives
The Illinois State Historical Records
Advisory Board (ISHRAB) is hosting Audiovisual Digitization Basics for 25
Illinois archivists and archival volunteers. This online course will be held on
February 2, 2022 from 2-3:30 pm. The course is presented by LYRASIS.
This class will enable students to create an outline of a
digital project management plan for audio visual collections and understand the
resources available for next steps. Persons or organizations who are looking
into undertaking an audiovisual digitization project or who will be seeking a
grant to fund an audiovisual digitization project are encouraged to take this
class.
ISHRAB and its representatives will award scholarships on
a first-come, first-served basis until all 25 seats have been filled. The
completed application form may be submitted by U.S. mail, FAX, or email. All
decisions made by the ISHRAB and its representatives will be final.

Madison 2022: Call for Pop-Up Proposals Reminder!
The deadline to submit proposals
for pop-up sessions at the Midwest Archives Conference Annual Meeting in
Madison, Wisconsin is January 28, 2022!
The 2022 Program Committee invites
pop-up session proposals on all aspects of archival practice and research, as
well as from allied and related fields. MAC members will vote for three
45-minutes pop-up session proposals that they would most like to see at the
annual meeting. All pop-up sessions are scheduled for Friday, May 6,
2022 from 1:15 to 2pm. Presenters MUST confirm they will be in attendance
during this date and time.
Proposals are due by January
28, 2022. To submit a pop-up proposal, please complete this Google Form.

A. Greene Award for First-Time Meeting Attendees Thinking of attending your first
MAC meeting this spring? Would you like some financial assistance? This
scholarship can provide that help. Applications are due March 1, 2022. This
early deadline enables the successful applicant(s) to receive the scholarship
committee’s decision in time to make travel plans for the spring Annual
Meeting.
The MAC Mark A. Greene Scholarship
provides a one-time travel stipend of up to $500, or two $250 stipends, to
graduate students or practicing archivists who have not previously attended a
MAC meeting. The award may be used to cover registration, travel, lodging,
workshop fees, and any other meeting expenses. MAC membership is not
required, nor do applicants need to reside in the MAC region. The scholarship
was envisioned by emeritus member Tim Ericson, and initial funding was
provided by other MAC emeriti. In 2019, the award was named for Mark A.
Greene for his many contributions to the archival profession.

Applications must include an essay of no more than 500 words and one letter
of support and should be submitted to Vicki Cooper at cooperv2@nku.edu..
The award will be announced at the
Annual Meeting. Award winner(s) are also expected to write an essay for the
MAC Newsletter on their experiences at the meeting and its importance to
their professional development. *********** The Society of American Archivists’ Awards Committee is seeking
nominations for the Sister M. Claude Lane, O.P., Memorial Award. This award
recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of
religious archives.
Criteria for nomination include:
- Involvement and work in the Archivists of Religious Collections
Section (ARCS) of the Society of American Archivists.

- Contributions to archival literature that relates to religious
archives.

- Participation and leadership in religious archives organizations.
-
- Evidence of leadership in specific religious archives.
-
- Only individual archivists are eligible for nomination.
The award is sponsored by the Society of Southwest Archivists, in
conjunction with Society of American Archivists. It is named in honor of
Sister M. Claude Lane, the first professionally trained archivist at the
Catholic Archives of Texas in Austin, who served there from 1960 until her
death in 1974. The award finalist is recognized with a certificate from SAA and
a $300 cash prize provided by the Society of Southwest Archivists at the annual
Society of American Archivists meeting.
