Archives and Archivists of Color Travel Fund Award
The Archives & Archivists of Color Interest Group of Chicago Area Archivists (CAA) is pleased to announce a travel grant for Chicago-area archives students and early career archivists to attend this year's Midwest Archives Conference. Funds are being raised entirely by the CAA community and anybody who wishes to contribute! With your help, we hope to expand the network of new archivists of color and increase the breadth of American archival collections.

Is there an archives individual, group, or organization that you know deserves recognition for outstanding contributions in advancing diversity within the archives profession? Nominate them for the SAA Diversity Award!

Up to two awards may be given each year. Recent awardees have included the Texas Disability History Collection at the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries and the Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies at the University of Minnesota Libraries (2017).

Society of American Archivists Diversity Award

Deadline: February 28, 2018

Purpose and Criteria for Selection: Established in 2011 and intended to address SAA's strategic priority on diversity, this award recognizes an individual, group, or institution for outstanding contributions in advancing diversity within the archives profession, SAA, or the archival record. The nominee should have achieved distinction in the following ways:

  • Demonstrated outstanding contributions in advancing diversity within the archives profession;
  • Demonstrated significant achievement in the form of activism, education, outreach, publication, service, or other initiatives in the archives field;
  • Demonstrated long-term impact on improving and promoting diversity as defined in the SAA Statement on Diversity and Inclusion.

Eligibility: Open to an individual, group, or organization. To encourage SAA member participation, preference may be given to SAA individual and/or institutional members.
