CARA Member News and September 23 Meet-up

Fellow CARA Member Sister Joella Cunnane, RSM, reports she is feeling well and plans to be up and around very soon following a medical procedure earlier this summer. We hope to see her back with us for a CARA meeting in the near future.

At the June 26 CARA Meeting, several people expressed interest in Crossings and Dwellings, the Loyola University Museum of Art exhibit co-curated by Ellen Skerrett. According to the LUMA website, Crossings and Dwellings: Restored Jesuits, Women Religious, American Experience, 1814–2014, uses "art, historical maps, broadsheets, books, liturgical objects, and textiles [to tell] the story of 19th-century European Jesuits and women religious who arrived on the country’s expanding western frontier to serve both indigenous and immigrant populations."

Public programming for the exhibit includes a lecture by Dr. Ann Harrington, BVM, professor emerita of history at Loyola. The lecture, entitled "New Frontiers: The Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary," will discuss the order 's connection with the Jesuits, the city of Chicago, Mundelein College, and Loyola University. Dr. Harrington will shed light on images of the remarkable women found in Crossings and Dwellings.
